The DLS-1000 is a cost effective and easy to
use digital library system software and is the
ideal solution for video archiving. It utilises
picons, metadata and automatically
generated
low resolution WMV files for easy
browsing of archived footage via a web browser.
Original files are stored and mirrored on the
NLD-1000 external hard drive solution, ensuring
data is
secure at all times. |
| NLD-1000 Disk Storage
System |
NLD-1000 is a mass external
storage device, communicating with DLS-1000 via
USB 2.0. Each NLD-1000 module contains twelve SATA
drives and up to a total of sixteen modules can be
daisy chained, allowing for a total of 192
harddrives to be connected to one system.
The
supplied disk management software independently
powers up each drive as it is required, reducing
heat, drive wear and noise. Files stored in
thNLD-1000 are protected by data mirror and
regular software diagnostics to keep all files in
a healthy state. All of these features contribute
to an inexpensive and reliable storage
solution. |

| Secure Data
|
| The original high resolution
files are stored and mirrored on the backup drive,
while the low resolution .WMV files are instantly
available for browsing. |
| Easy Archiving
|
| During ingest in the original
format, the DLS-1000 automatically produces a low
resolution WMV file, which enables easy browsing.
The WMV file is linked to the original high
resolution file, for automatic retrieval in high
resolution. |

| User Interface
|
| During ingest DLS-1000
automatically creates a picon for each scene
within the movie. Scenes can be instantly accessed
by clicking on the picon. |
| User Workflow
|
| Users can browse the low
resolution .WMV file via the web interface.
Sequences can be marked, for download, and a
request can be sent to the system administrator,
who can then download the sequence from the
original file. |
| LAN & WAN
Access |
| Users can easily search
through the movies over LAN or WAN. Search and
queries can be carried out visually or via
metadata. |

Capacity |
| Up to seven NLD-1000 can be
installed into a 41U rack cabinet giving the
DLS-1000 storage capacity of 42TB. |

| During ingest users can add
custom metadata for each movie, this metadata is
then used by the search engine to list matching
